My mother suffers from a condition called Relapsing Polychondritis. This is a rare disease which affects the immune system and the body's cartilage eats away at itself overtime causing disfigurement, constant pain and damage to joints. There is no cure for this disease. Also, there is treatment to try and help, but its all trial and error with individual patients due to it being so rare and not enough past evidence of what works.
She is currently undergoing weekly blood tests, scans and consultation appointments. Some drs do know about it, but only a very few, many have never heard of it.
Her other symptoms include redness, pain and swelling of the ears, nose and throat, shortness of breath and fatigue. Her immune system is extremely low so any infection or common cold she catches damages the cartilage further.

The charity has recently been set up and there are only a small amount of members and not much money raised.
