Story
A couple weeks ago, we lost everything we own...including the car we were living in.
The beginning of our story starts in Texas. When we left Houston, our "friend" and roommate asked us if we'd be interested in buying his car from him. This car is one we were fortunate enough to have free use of while living in the house. Our friend had been trying to sell it, but due to some fairly decent body damage was not having success at the price he was asking. Knowing that our credit was not that great, he gave us an opportunity to make payments to him. A few months after leaving Houston, we found ourselves basically homeless and living in a tent, hotel rooms, and the car. Unfortunately, we were not able to keep up with the $400/mo payments to him. Even more unfortunate, he decided that the best and quickest to way to recoup the money was by reporting the car stolen to his insurance company and the police. We found out when a Texas sheriff called my mom's house looking for us. Within a week, we were stopped in a Walmart parking lot and arrested.
Everything, except the shirts on our backs, we had was in the car when they towed it away that day. All of our clothes, our tent and linens, bathroom/makeup products, tools (basic stuff), hundreds of dollars worth of art supplies, and most disheartening quite a few irreplaceable items...my grandmother's jewelry, some items belonging to my daughter's deceased father, and a treasured leather bag that used to belong to my stepdad.
We need help replacing everything and recovering from the $400 we had to pay a bondsman. I start a new job today, but Will cannot work without the ID that was in the car...birth certificate, ss card...all from out of state and not replaceable in Virginia. Any and all help will be gratefully appreciated. Thank you in advance.
