Weʼre raising £250 to help Amy get to Mexico for a Girlguiding Community Service Project

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Can you sponsor me?

My name is Amy and I am 12. I attend my local Guide unit and I also help my mum, who is a Brownie Leader, with running her unit at the same location. The Brownie unit name for me is “Mouse”.

I am one of a few Guides there fundraising to travel to Mexico in 2020 to take part in a local community service project.

I am doing a sponsored walk from Hastings Pier to Eastbourne Pier during the autumn half term week (October) and I am obviously trying to raise as many sponsors as I can. The distance between the piers is about 25 kilometres and I will be walking it with my dad. I holiday at Normans Bay at my Grandma’s caravan – which is part way between the two destinations, and hence why I have chosen these landmarks. This is also a personal challenge for me as I don't like walking much.

Once in Mexico we will be travelling to “Our Cabana” for 10 -14 days. “Our Cabana” is an International Girl Guide Centre in Cuernavaca. In addition to taking part in a community project we will also be learning about the local culture, history and meeting other members of Girlguiding from other countries. Our service project will be working in schools and doing some reforestation work. In previous years Girlguiding have helped with teaching local children English, helping build a school, painting a school, and more.

However, for me to go I need to raise around £3,000, so between now and 2020 I will be running various fundraising events, and I would really appreciate all the support that I can get.

If you are able to sponsor me it would be fantastic, and greatly appreciated, however small the amount, as every little helps.

Many thanks,

Amy (Mouse)

Yay, I made it. It took 6 hours of walking and I now have sore feet but it was worth it. Thank you again for sponsoring me. Love Amy xxx
