Story

Can you sponsor me for my sponsored cycle in October?

My name is Amy and I am 13. I attend my local Guide unit and I also help my mum, who is a Brownie Leader, with running her unit at the same location. The Brownie unit name for me is “Mouse”.

I am one of a few Guides there fundraising to travel to Mexico in 2020 to take part in a local community service project.

I am doing a sponsored cycle along the Cuckoo Trail in East Sussex, which goes from Polegate to Heathfield (and back again) during the autumn half term week (October). I will be cycling 40 kilometres and I will be cycling it with my dad. Yet again this is a personal challenge for me, I don't often cycle and at the most manage 8 kilometres.

Once in Mexico we will be travelling to a Youth Hostel in Morelia City which is about a 4 hours drive from Mexico City Airport. We will be volunteering in two major fields; we will be running activities with children and will gain hands on experience using various dynamics and non-formal educational activities; such as Girlguiding skills, environmental awareness and life skills. Together with the children we will be carrying out reforestation work to help preserve the environment. At the end of the trip we will travel to “Our Cabana” for a few days. “Our Cabana” is an International Girl Guide Centre in Cuernavaca. In addition to taking part in a community project we will also be learning about the local culture, history and meeting other members of Girlguiding from other countries.

However, for me to go I need to raise around £2,800, so between now and 2020 I will be running various fundraising events, and I would really appreciate all the support that I can get.

If you are able to sponsor me it would be fantastic, and greatly appreciated, however small the amount, as every little helps.

Many thanks

Amy (Mouse)
