I've raised £3000 to support Project Go, a family fund of Duchenne UK, as well as helping to fund my Scottish Hour Record attempt

I am a keen amateur cyclist, competing at national and international levels for the past 12 years. I currently ride for one of Scotland's premier race teams; Vanelli-Project Go.
The 'Project Go' part of our name is in recognition and support of the Project Go charity that was set up to raise awareness and vital funds for research into finding a cure for children stricken with debilitating Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
To help support Project Go, I am planning to break the current Scottish Hour Record - cycle as far as you can in one hour. It's not easy! I'll be attemptnig to break the record at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow on Sunday March 17th 2024 (if you're able to come along to support in person, I'll be starting my ride around 14:45).
The current record of 46.65km was set almost 28 years ago by Jim Gladwell riding on the old Meadowbank Velodrome in Edinburgh.
The fact that the record has lasted for such a long time is testament to how physically and mentally demanding this event is.
Despite being heavily involved in a race team, I am self-funding the event, and this is not cheap as there are many different costs involved ranging from velodrome hire to fees for the necessary officials and time keepers. My estimate for the cost of putting on the event is £1,500.00.
To support both the event as well as Project Go I am hoping to find support by way of kind donations. Half of the donations will go to Project Go whilst the other half will go to help fund the event (capped at the event cost). If there are sufficient donations to fully fund the event, then any donations over and above this will be given, 100%, to Project Go.
In other words, if the total value of donations reaches my target of £3000, then the event will be considered fully funded and anything above this goes to Project Go.
As the event costs are currently an estimate, if the final cost turns out to be lower than expected, then the 'extra' donations will be sent to Project Go. If the costs are higher, I will cover them myself.
Hopefully, we can raise a healthy amount of cash to support Project Go while I prepare to endure an hour of suffering on the bike!
