Story
Ancrum's 12th century Hogback stone is probably the best preserved in the Scottish Borders. It's condition had become so poor, the decision was taken in 2019 to remove it to a safe place. It has now been dried out and is ready for remedial work before its return to the churchyard where it has been for centuries. It will then need to be placed on a plinth with a protective cover. Ancrum & District Heritage Society now have a design for the cover which will not only keep the stone safe but will enable it to be viewed by all.
