St David's Hill Playgroup
As a charitable group our fees and any other funding pays for the children’s sessions and the outgoings such as rent, wages, all utility bills as well as materials and resources.
We have to fundraise to cover the cost of everything that we need to support out children’s continued learning as we do not have big pots of surplus money, and our equipment soon needs replacing.
We have been fundraising continuously since before the summer holidays and used our 50th anniversary to invite our local community to help us celebrate with a fundraising barbeque. The local community have been really supportive and we have had parents offering to do a sky dive, car boots sales and we had a summer sports day and invited all the community. We have also had a past pupil of our group offer to run the half marathon to help us to raise some money.
At present we are going through a low birth year which means the numbers in our setting have dramatically reduced since losing 16 of our children to school in September. We have had to reduce the hours that staff work in order to cut cost as well as cutting back on materials and resources for our children, however we need to be sustainable and our staffing levels required to operate is governed by the Ofsted regulations.
AS I have already mentioned our local community are very supportive in all our fundraising events and we as a group, with the commitment of our committee members, are continuously working together to think of fundraising ideas.
Due to the wear and tear of the building we have a number of items and equipment that does need replacing.
We would be very grateful for any grant donated to us as this would help us to with the refurbishment.
