Kelly Stabb is a friend and work colleague. But that really undersells Kelly. She is an amazing mother, colleague, and one of the most positive people I know. Kelly is married to Simon and they have two young sons, Jake and Luke. In Jan 2017 Kelly found out that she had stage 4 Bowel Cancer that had spread to her liver. Following extensive operations and treatment, in January 2018 Kelly found that the cancer had spread to other parts of her body. Kelly's Doctors now describe her care as a 'complicated case', that they cannot cure her, and have offered 'Life prolonging' treatments.
Simon has looked at what alternative life prolonging treatments are available and this funding is towards this and for any help/assistance funds raised can give for Kelly and her family.
So what am I doing? Kelly loves running, as do I.
So at the start of this year I thought... is it possible for me to run 2018 miles in 2018?
To put this in context this is about 5.5 miles a day, every day for a year, or just under 40 miles a week for the whole year. It's a lot of miles to cram in, but to date (start of July) I'm a bit ahead of schedule. If there are days when I don't feel like running what gets me moving is simply the thought that I am so very lucky to be able to run. I know how much Kelly loves running and that she would be so so happy to be able to get out doing what I'm doing. It keeps me focused and reminds me that the good health I could take for granted is actually an amazing thing to be grateful for.
Kelly, simply put is an amazing lady, who despite all she has faced, has raised a huge sum of money for bowel cancer. I now want to do what little I can to raise a bit of money to put towards any care that will help her and her family, or to give them some positive memories together. All money raised will go to Kelly and her family to assist with this how they see fit.
Please give whatever you can to keep my legs moving for 40 miles a week for Kelly. Thank you
