We are a small group of people who are working to refurbish an under used part of Emerson Green park. We are working with permission from South Gloucester Council. This area was previously used by drug takers and drinkers. South Glos removed the hedges to open up this area for us and stop the miss use. To date we have purchased two lovely wood sculptures and put them in situ. One shows the life cycle of a butterfly from egg to caterpillar, to crysalis to the butterfly. The other is a beautiful sunflower showing how the flower grows from seed. We have also put in inspirationaly worded plaques which will eventually lead to amother sculpture showing family life. We will also be putting in a thought circle with a carved 7 seat bench in the middle and quarry stones with thought provoking words on them for you to sit by and enjoy. We have a butterfly log which will contain metalic bees and butterflys coloured by school children and a special carved bench which will be inspired by childrens drawings. Our aim is to show how all living things depend on each other and how we need to take responsibility for our own actions and responsibility for our planet. This will be a fun and inspirational place for all ages to visit. The carvings are very tactile and already they have become a great favourite with adults and children alike. We hope you can help us raise some of the funds we need. We have already raised thousands by doing car boot sales, cake sales, and one member of our group dressed up for the two weeks before Christmas to do his deliveries in his lorry, and friends and colleagues sponsored him.
