I've raised £20000 to To buy equipment for Glaucoma treatment to help prevent sight loss.

Welcome to Pressure-Eyes, my new fundraising venture, where I believe in the power of progress in the fight against glaucoma. Your invaluable support in fundraising for advanced equipment is pivotal for several reasons. Glaucoma, a sight-threatening condition, is characterised by progressive optic nerve damage and can lead to irreversible vision loss. Modern diagnostic tools, fuelled by your generosity, enable early detection, preserving sight and enhancing patient outcomes. Precision in treatment, made possible by cutting-edge technology, ensures tailored interventions for maximum effectiveness. Join me in making a profound impact on glaucoma care – your support is a beacon of hope for those affected by this challenging condition. Together, let's advance eye health, raise awareness, and transform lives.
Just over 7 years ago, I was diagnosed with advanced glaucoma. Through the care from my friend as well as my optician, I was fast-tracked through the brilliant NHS and found myself at the Glaucoma clinic in the Shankill Health Centre. The first person I met there was Miss Angela Knox, a consultant specialising in Glaucoma. As you can imagine, I was very anxious as I had already lost sight in 1 eye, and I was convinced that I was going blind. Angela immediately made me feel she was on my side and she was determined to preserve my remaining sight. She went, in my opinion, way beyond the call of duty, organising an operation I needed to be performed at the world-famous Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. The NHS once more showed how well it could take care of me. Flights and hotels were organised for me and my wife to make the many trips back and forth to Moorfields. Finally, I was returned into the care of Angela and her team in Belfast. Words can't adequately describe how the professional, kind, and generous treatment I received at the glaucoma clinic has helped me through dark times and given me a new-found strength and determination to show the world that I won't be defined by glaucoma.
Pressure-Eyes is my way of thanking the Glaucoma Clinic for all it has done for me. It is also a practical way of helping treat and maybe someday finding a cure for this horrible condition.
Thank you for your support,
Andrew
