Just over a year ago, some dear friends Andy and Jo tragically lost their beautiful six year old boy, Lucas, to a brain tumour. Since then, Andy and Jo have devoted themselves to help raise awareness of this terrible illness and to raise funds for childhood brain tumour research, in a hope that other children and their parents would not have to go through the same devastating heartbreak.

It is a testament to their strength and courage and their love and devotion to Lucas, that Lucas’ Legacy is now a registered charity. In just a year, with support from family, friends and the generosity of the local community, Andy and Jo have raised over £94,000 for charities, including £76,000 for research into childhood brain tumour research.

On 16 October, I am taking part, with a number of friends, in the famous Cat and Fiddle Cycle ride to raise funds for Lucas’ Legacy. It is a challenging 55 mile cycle ride, which features one of the steepest rides in the UK to the Cat and Fiddle Pub in the Peak District.
