Story

Help us bring the world back to those who can no longer reach it

In 2023, I had the privilege of raising funds for a wonderful community at Buckshaw Retirement Village. Thanks to incredible support, they now have two rickshaws bringing joy, fresh air, and freedom to their residents.

But there’s a problem.

Those rickshaws are only available within the village. Beyond those walls, there are so many more people - elderly neighbours, individuals in care homes, and those living alone - who remain stuck indoors, often only able to watch the world pass by through their windows.

And that’s why I need your help.

What we’re trying to do

We want to purchase two new community rickshaws that will be available to everyone in Chorley, Buckshaw, Leyland and surrounding areas - not just one location.

This is a not-for-profit, volunteer-led project. Every ride is free. Every smile is powered by kindness.

Our goal is simple, but deeply important:

• To help older people feel the wind in their hair again

• To bring them back into the heart of the community

• To replace loneliness with conversation, laughter, and connection

Because no one should feel forgotten.

Why this matters so much

Many elderly people are not choosing to stay indoors - they simply have no way out.

Mobility challenges, health conditions, or lack of support mean they are often confined to their homes. Days pass. Weeks pass. The outside world becomes something distant.

But just outside their door, there is life waiting:

parks, laughter, familiar streets, changing seasons… connection.

These rickshaw rides don’t just transport people - they restore dignity, joy, and belonging.

My challenge

To make this happen, I’m taking on a sponsored walking challenge.

I will be walking 100km (62 miles) over a few days, pushing myself physically to help raise £3,000 towards the rickshaws and essential running costs like:

• Insurance

• Maintenance

• Website and coordination

• Equipment to keep passengers safe and comfortable

We’ve already raised some funds - but we are still far from what we need.

And the truth is…

we cannot do this without you.

How you can help

If you’re reading this, please consider donating.

No amount is too small. Truly.

Even the smallest contribution brings us one step closer to:

• getting someone out of their home

• giving them a reason to smile

• helping them feel part of the world again

If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page could make all the difference.

A small gift. A huge impact

This project is built on compassion, community, and volunteers giving their time to others.

But without funding, it simply cannot exist.

So I’m asking - humbly and sincerely -

please help us make this happen.

Let’s open the door for those who can’t open it themselves.

Let’s bring the world back to them.

Thank you so much for your support 💛
