Story

Andrew (Andy) was recently in The Royal Infirmary Edinburgh with constant seizures and very sadly passed away. The hospital staff at the time very kindly procured a chair bed and moved him to a single room, so that I could remain with him overnight. It also meant that his mum, dad and sister could be there at all times of the day and night as well. This made such a difference to him, me and his family, that when we discovered there was only 1 of these chair beds between 3 wards (roughly 135 patients), we decided to try and raise some money to buy 2 chair beds - one for Ward 207, being the ward he was lastly in and whose staff lavished such care and attention on him and another for Ward 205, who gave him such great and compassionate care over the last 5 years. I hope that the following extract from my diary at the time will encourage you to donate, so that we can buy these chair beds to help other families and patients during such a hard and difficult time.
29 June 2019 - "What of the family, relatives, friends, loved ones of a patient, waiting at home for news , any contact, hearing from their loved one? These are emotions and feelings that have to be dealt with by every living being at some point in their life. They are not feeling the peace and calmness that I'm feeling, because I am here - I can mop his brow, rub his arm, speak to and with him, listen to him breathe, watch his chest rise and fall, hear him cough -all things that I can do at home, but can't do if I'm not beside him here".
These chair beds would ease the pain and frustration for patients and loved ones alike and may help you and a loved one some day.
