From the minute I walked through the gates of the junior Light Division Depot I was instantly greeted with life long friends from not only the light Infantry but also the Royal Green Jackets, friends who you could rely on tours whilst I was serving in some serious operational theatres. The Light Infantry Regiment will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in June 2018. To mark this occasion 50 ex Light Infantry soldiers, (myself included), will be marching 50 miles, with each volunteer undertaking to try and raise £1,000 with a grand total of £50,000 to be achieved which will be presented to the Regimental Association to care for its veterans.
