Story

For the next 12 months my youngest daughter Lucy shall be fundraising to raise enough money for her rugby league team; Whitley Bay Barbarians to tour Australia for a once in a lifetime trip. A squad of 25 players and staff are all raising as much money as possible such as race nights, band nights, bag packs and cake stalls....

Lucy will be raising money through sponsorship by walking around Kielder Water (27 miles!), cycling from Hexham to Seghill Rugby Club where the team plays (30+ miles); the challenge here being Lucy has never been on a bike since she was 8 years old. Other events are planned.

A big event Lucy is planning is persuading her grandparents to open up their garden for the general public in the Summer. Visitors will be able to look at the glorious array of gardens and enjoy the hospitality on offer (all funds raised will go to getting the team to OZ!)

For those who are unable to attend any event or even purchase one of Lucy’s homemade cakes you can offer a small donation to help us get Lucy and her pals there. If you can help Lucy and her teammates we would be very grateful.

Lucy may like Australia that much she may consider staying which would be a bonus!

Thanks in advance
