Story

I am doing a sponsored skydive for the Palliative Care Unit at Wansbeck Hospital in Ashington, Northumberland. I am doing this in memory of my Mam, Heather Young (in the picture) who was treated and ultimately died there in September last year.

The Ward delivers excellent end of life care to cancer patients and having had both my Mam and my family supported by them I know firsthand the excellent work they do there. The staff are lovely, the level of care is outstanding and I believe they should be recognised for this.

Being scared of heights, on a personal level this is terrifying for me but I feel this is a very little and insignificant thing I can do to help the Unit compared to the monumental task they do on a day to day basis looking after both terminal and non-terminal cancer patients and their families.

I will be doing the Skydive on the 28th of June 2019 and with this being said I would appreciate any donation that you can manage, it means so much.

Many thanks in advance,

Andrew Young.
