Story
South Manchester Sports Club would like to bring to your attention an event the club are organising in memory of Andrew Cohen who sadly passed away in December 2017. As we all know Andrew did an enormous amount for both the club and the wider community in both a footballing sense and a social one and was a huge driving force behind making sure South Manchester Sports Club is where it is today. The Club is a thriving hub for members of various local communities and for South Manchester football club in particular, has become a home for players young and old to enjoy their passion.
We therefore think it’s only right to throw an amazing event to remember and acknowledge the amazing person that Andrew was, the role he played in many of our lives, directly and indirectly and to also raise a load of money for The Andrew Cohen Foundation at the same time to ensure his legacy continues.
What are we doing?
We will be hosting a 24 hour football match, ( yes you heard correctly ) and also a huge family fun day over a 2 day period for everyone to be involved in! The football is available for anyone from the age of under 9’s through to open age. We will ensure players will be playing at the same time as others of their own age group and appreciate that the under 18’s will all be participating during ‘sociable’ hours.
Where will it be?
The event will take place at South Manchester Sports Club, St Ann’s Road North, Cheadle, SK8 4RZ.
When will it be?
The event will run from 12 noon on Saturday the 27th June, through to 3 o’clock on Sunday 28th June. The footballing aspect will likely run from 1 pm on the Saturday, through to 1pm on the Sunday.
We are expecting around 500 people to be at the centre over the course of the event which is testament to the amazing person Andrew was.
