Story

I know I said I would never fight for charity, but when I see little girls like Ava with a horrible illness, my heart strings go mad. So, with special thanks to Dave I have decided to dedicate my fight on November 11th, live in London to Ava. She needs a special kind of dog to help her with her day to day life; this dog has the potential to save her life. This amazing animal costs £900 and that's without any training so I am going to aim to raise £2000 to pay for it all and to give her a little break away for being so brave. So please please help me, help her! Ava my little love, this fight is for you my darling. Andy xxxx #

Just a little information about Ava: She is a typical loving, happy but quiet 5 year old. Sadly in her short life she has had to go through more than most people have to in their entire lives.

In January 2016 Ava was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and had to manage all of the struggles that came with that. This included up to 10 injections a day, constant blood sugar testing and the regular highs and lows that made her feel severely ill. She coped with this the same way she copes with everything.... like the trooper she is. She was amazing.

However April 2017, tragedy struck again and she suffered her first seizure during the night. It was hoped it would be a one off, and perhaps related to her diabetes so the stance of 'wait and see' was adopted. Sadly, this was not the case. Over the next few months Ava continued to have sleep induced seizures and it became apparent they were not related to her blood sugars. She simply had been handed the devastating luck of another chronic condition.

Ava is now on anti-convulsant medication but unfortunately this cannot guarantee her safety during the night and due to the added issue of her diabetes, these fits are even more concerning. The longer they last - the more dangerous they are. A medical alert dog would not only provide peace of mind for her and her family but they can warn and provide signal up to an hour BEFORE she is going to suffer a seizure. If trained for both epilepsy and diabetes, this dog would also be able to inform Ava and her parents BEFORE her bloods dropped to a dangerous level or raised to a scary high.

The benefit this dog would bring to both Ava and her family is invaluable.

Ava and her family thank you all massively for the support you are giving.

Thank you xxxx
