Alpha Boxing Gym

Mission - I am looking to opening a boxing gym, my mission is to create a safe, inclusive and empowering environment for Adults, children and young people especially those with SEN, autism or challenging backgrounds, through the discipline and community of boxing.

I want help ex convicts which need a focus and keep their mind focused to prevent additional jail time.

Vision - My vision is to provide a safe space where all children and adults, regardless of capability or background can develop confidence, resilience and skills both in and out of the ring

Objective - Support children and adults in building physical and mental health

Engage 100+ children in the first year

Engage 75+ adults in the first year

offer professional and recreational boxing programs for all levels and capabilities

Services

I will be offering in depth boxing training for beginners and professionals whether the goal is to keep fit or pursue a career into boxing. I will be offering classes tailored to SEN children - e.g Sensory friendly children, I have a son of my own that’s a SEN child and i know on a day to day basis the struggles he goes through and how a gym that offers classes tailored to children that struggle with issues would benefit the community greatly. I would be offering after school club programs to keep children engaged and off the street. Youth mentorship programs and 1-1s with children and adults

I would put on workshops purely to build all participants confidence and self esteem inside and outside the ring.

Target Market

I would be targeting primarily children and young people age 6-18, with a focus on SEN, autism, ADHD, or at risk youth. I would also target adults with mental health struggles as being a man that has been through it myself boxing was a major safe outlet and environment for me to be in. I am also looking to target ex-convicts that are coming out and have recently came out of jail to keep their mind focused and keep them out of jail. I am aware the space inside of jails is at a all time high and I am willing to work with the community to keep adults from causing unnecessary trouble and find a different outlet and focus.

Secondarily I would be targeting local schools, community groups, and parents seeking safe activities for their children.

Why the need for the gym?

There is a limited market inclusive sports facilities in the area, growing demand for activities that promote mental health and well-being. There is a rising interest in boxing as a form of fitness and discipline.

there are 2 other boxing gym in the areas which don’t offer any inclusivity, programs especially targeted to children or SEN children.

Marketing

I will be partnering with schools and local authorities to refer children, use social media platforms to showcase success stories and updates inside and outside the gym, how we are benefitting the target audience and making a difference in the community.

Offer free open days or taster sessions to engage the community and get people interested to pop down and see what we offer. I will also work with local newspapers or radio stations to raise awareness of what we can offer and the goal we wish to achieve.

Key partnerships I wish to target would of course be Schools, community centres, charities supporting SEN children and local sports organizations

Operations plan

I have secured a safe and accessible venue for the gym to open and take place Leadgate, County Durham ** All staff would be qualified boxing coach and DBS checked - I will be the main constant coach and i am a qualified coach and previously a professional boxer. Mentors or support staff will be trained in working with SEN children. I will be offering places for volunteers and part time helpers.

Equipment

Boxing Ring, Boxing bags, gloves, pads, floor mats, sensory friendly items for SEN sessions, skipping ropes, weights, skier, rower, treadmill, bike, safety measure in place, desk.

Challenges

I need to secure initial funding to be able to set this space up, I am applying for grants through the likes of yourselves to secure diverse funding.

I will be ensuring consistent attendance and engagement is happening, it is my goal to build a strong community partnerships to ensure a steady stream of participants of all ages.
