Hi there, I'm trying to raise money for my little brother who was born with Spina Bifida which means he does not have the use of his legs.
The aim of this is to raise £2500 for a replacement lightweight wheelchair.
Andrew and our family have been in touch with the NHS staff responsible for issuing wheelchairs but unfortunately they are not able to provide a lightweight chair due to NHS budget restrictions.

Andy has had the same chair for over ten years now and it has been modified time and again. His feet are currently supported by a block of wood. This is both not ideal and and somewhat embarrassing.
He is now 30 years old and has much of his independence.
He drives and this is where the issue lays...
For Andy to get in and out of his car he must lift himself into the drivers seat then proceed to reach out, take the wheels off his chair and lift the chair frame in through the drivers seat and place it on the passenger seat, all whilst sitting in the drivers seat. This would be difficult for an able bodied person.
This is a daily struggle without any core stability and the reduced weight chair will reduce the risk of falling out of the car when trying to load the chair.
Andy's income means he is not in a position to renew his chair without help thus I have set up this donation page to try and raise as much towards this life changing, practical and truly necessary chair.
