Story

I started my running journey in 2018 to help me lose weight, and it quickly became one of the most sociable and enjoyable parts of my life. I now want to challenge myself with a half marathon, and to raise some money for some important causes at the same time.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) was a huge part of my Grandma's life. She served was a chairwoman for the Blackpool association and was awarded with a medal for charitable services to the RNLI. She was a wonderfully charitable woman throughout her life, including abseiling from the highest point of the Grand National rollercoaster and wing walking over the skies of Blackpool, both in fundraising efforts for the RNLI. It was such a key part of her identity that we even shot her ashes out of a flare from an RNLI lifeboat just off the coast in Blackpool. I’ll be pledging half the donations to this important cause in memory of my amazing Grandma, Barbara Page.

The second half of the donations will be going to Special Effect, a charity that uses technology to help people with physical disabilities play video games. They offer a full service to modify or create equipment to lend to them, and give support so they can get the best out of it. It's an amazing cause that helps bring families and friends together and to have a positive impact on therapy, confidence and rehabilitation.

Any donation, big or small, would be incredible. Whether you're feeling charitable, or you simply want to see me suffer through 13.1 miles; all is greatly appreciated.

This whole running journey has been made possible because of my amazing girlfriend and our cracking friends. Follow them on instagram at @lundsuzie and @biglegslittlelegs for pictures of the fun we've been having getting up at 7am on Saturdays for the past few months.

The aim is to run an autumn marathon in 2019 as an ultimate goal to my running journey and i'll be aiming to raise at least double the amount I raise this time around!
