Story

On the 1st of June 2020, Aneta Zdun and her teenage daughter Nikoleta were brutally murdered in their family home in Salisbury in front of Aneta's two young children, and siblings of Nikoleta. Aneta's husband, Nikoleta’s father, was charged with their murder and subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment.

This tragedy has left a hole in the lives of all who knew Aneta and Nikoleta, including the neighbours, workmen, and the services who raced to the scene on that sunny June day. As Aneta and Nikoleta were returned to Poland after the incident, not everybody will get the opportunity to visit their graves and pay their respects. As time has gone on and a new family have moved into the house where the incident has happened, the community and residents of Wessex Road feel there should be a permanent memorial somewhere in Salisbury for all those who are grieving the loss of these two amazing young women to lay flowers, sit, or remember their lives and pay their respects.

We will see how far the fundraising goes before deciding the best option for memorial, whether that’s a tree, a bench, play equipment or something even bigger. Please share so that we can get their family and friends in Salisbury a space to remember them forever.
