Story
On New Years Day 2018
After I had a pain in my chest after leading a normal lifestyle, I went to hospital to be checked out. After spending all day there, it was not diagnosed straight away after xrays etc. Then late February to receive a call from doctor to say could I make way to surgery for an appointment. I was then informed I had an aneurism. Not knowing what it was other than the size and where it was left us all in shock to the size and what it meant. After seeing a consultant a few days later who specialises in cardio thoracic, I was told how serious it was and not to do anything further in case it burst. It then followed us leaving Wales for Essex to await the life threatening operation. March 2nd was the day of the operation to change my aortic root and arch and refloat my valve. After all that to discover my heart was weak and needed a pacemaker and suffered a minor stroke. I would just like to set this up and raise awareness as a Thank You to all the staff and consultants who performed my operation. Without them this wouldn’t be happening although it was touch and go for a while. After a month in hospital, I was lucky to return home to commence my slow recovery.
The support from my partner, family and friends was amazing In my life saving operation. I have been given another chance in life.
So, we would like to give someone else a chance, to help the hospital and staff in their success for research and saving others.
Any donation in this being achieved or just spread the word of awareness will also help.
A big thank you to Mr Inderpaul Birdi and the rest of his team at Essex Basildon Hospital who helped in my operation, recovery and saving my life.
People die from this alot of the time undiagnosed.
