An incredible lady whom I have been fortunate enough to know for more than two decades now, has become victim of an incredibly horrific prank/theft, and so I need your help!

Kate is an amputee. She's not, she's an incredible woman who just so happens to only have one leg...she would not take to kindly to being labelled! The reason for that, is that Kate lives life to the absolute full and as such, is never one to shy away from whatever challenge is presented to her.

As an avid swimmer, Kate was swimming in the River Tees at Preston Park one day within the last week and when she returned to the jetty where she had left her leg "Pogo", it was missing. For the full story, I've included both a news article and a video from BBC Tees below:

Now I do not think it right, that Kate has suffered this. Nor do I think it's right, that anyone could or would impact her freedom in this way. I'm sure you all feel the same, that's why I'm asking for your help!

Although the term 'fortunately' seems a poor choice, Kate will be supported with a new Pogo, at the cost to the local NHS department of approximately £5000. I feel as well as to cover the cost of Kate's leg and relieve the frustration she feels in needing a replacement due to a mindless act, that more should be done to recognise such a fantastic team here in the North East. I'm looking to support them with more of the necessary equipment they need to help amputees to make the best of the challenges they face.
