Two years ago on the 4th July my wonderful mum lost two year battle with ready cancer. We were all devasted by her loss. Although we lived 100 miles apart we spoke on the phone at least 5 times everyday. You never get over the inability to be able to pick up the phone to your mum, just for a chat, when something's wrong, or when you want to share an amazing piece of news
Then the unthinkable happened two years later I was diagnosed with breast cancer, the only thing which made it bearable at the time was knowing that I had my lovely family around me to give me a reason to fight
Then a month after my surgery and a week before I was due to start chemotherapy I had the shock of losing my gorgeous and supportive husband Ricky
I've attended every chemo session alone, as it should have been Rickys job to be with me holding my hand and telling me everything's going to be ok. I have one more session to go then a month of daily radiotherapy
Throughout my treatment the staff at the Aylesford Cancer unit have been truly amazing ! Their friendliness and cheekiness (thats Ian) had been amazing
Unfortunately I've met many friends from Henley whilst I've been in the unit, I won't name them but you know who they are ... sadly some of them are not here today as despite their best fight and determination they didn't win the battle
Yesterday another friend, 45 with 3 young children lost her battle too.
My ask is that we all forget Xmas cards this year (to the people with see everyday in the COOP or on the school run and donate to this wonderful Cancer unit. They have made an unbearable six months of my life bearable and unbelievably a lot of the time actually enjoyable with their spirit and sheer detetmination to help
