Story

In January 2021 I received the devastating diagnosis of Stage 3 Inflammatory Breast Cancer, a rare and very aggressive form of this horrible disease that had already spread to my lymph nodes. There followed a gruelling 18 months of treatment which included Chemotherapy, mastectomy, lymph node clearance, radiotherapy, a rapid recurrance which required further surgery and another 10 months of chemotherapy. Throughout this time my family have provided me with the most amazing support but it has been an incredibly difficult journey both physically and mentally. Nobody realises the psychological damage that this terrible disease can have upon you until they or a family member has faced it. Despite always trying to be as positive as possible there were some very dark days and in January 2022 I stepped through the doors of Charlie‘s Cancer Support Centre in Gloucester which has changed my life. I have met the most inspirational people and received such wonderful friendship and support there that I will be forever grateful for. This small independent charity provides a lifeline for so many people in our area and although I will never be able to repay their kindness , I would like to raise as much money as possible to help them continue their wonderful work. Therefore, Angie’s Army , consisting of myself and as many members of my fabulous family that I can muster will be completing the 25 km South West Challenge on Saturday August 5 th 2023. We will be so grateful for any amount that you can possibly spare and look forward to helping this incredible charity .
