Some years ago I lived in the Turks and Caicos Islands teaching in a small island school. I worked with a remarkable local assistant with whom I have kept in contact. The family have worked hard over the years to improve their standard of living and a short while ago were able to move into better accommodation. Unfortunately, having recently lost her husband, today I also learnt from her son, that following hurricane Irma, their house has suffered significant damage. Part of the roof is missing and furnishings have been ruined from flood water. This family now face a daunting future trying to rebuild their lives and I would like to try and raise a small amount of money to help them on this journey.
