Weʼre raising £2,500 to help with my bereavement and my cancer
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Hello, this is Angela. And Thanks for being interested in this page!
I live in London and had with my partner 20 vivid years in all weathers.
In 2014, Cancer knocked at Frank’s door.
We lost the battle after 3 years and the last year was extremely demanding. Frank was at home and in extremely poor physical conditions.
Since August 2017 I have been tackling my deep grief, its unique loneliness and some associated stress/mental health conditions, despite being drained by financial and bureaucratic issues and by painful family relationships.
I’ve been groping my way towards a new life thanks to some wonderful support - from the kindness of many people, from some more specific and consistent assistance, and from health experts.
A THANK YOU
to Mich, Dr Jenny, Hackney Council & my landlord, Emmanuelle, Michael, Anna, Rev Sophia & All Hallows by The Tower, Quiet Waters Team, Camphill Wellbeing Trust, Karolis & Uran, and to the many familiar/first time contacts that have, are doing and will make a difference in my life, not only in the neighbourhood, charity organisations but everywhere I go!
Moderately but my grief and broken brain keep affecting me. My depression and PTSD have been overcome last year, but I need to protect myself. So I am still unable to fully work or to cope with the stress of a typical job hunting. Last autumn I haven’t managed to find a flexible, low-stress, part-time, temporary job.
Cancer knocked at my door too.
In January I’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer metastatic to the bones. And it is unsettling to deal with it without having at least some money to survive.
Gratefully my rent is covered but, once left with no savings, I’ve been struggling to pay for food and other basic expenses. I already have debts and an arranged overdraft.
I’ve been finding ways to improve my quality of life as well as to manage side effects of the NHS medications. My mind is begging for some peace and my body for some rest to maximize the potential of the treatment, for at least a few months before looking again for a suitable job.
Therefore, I am appealing for donations - any amount makes a difference to my health.
£ 2,500 should cover 3 months of my survival expenses (min £330 excl. heating and travel), some clothing due to my weight loss, and the first year of my mistletoe* costs (about £100 a month). Any extra funding would take away further weight off my shoulders from excessive worries and pressure.
It is recommended by the NHS Royal London Hospital for Integrative Medicine. I strongly need it after having been debilitated for so long. I’ve seen daily and clearly its benefits despite Frank has only used it in his terminal year. End of January I’ve started it and felt instantly a difference. I don’t know how many years I’ll be around but I can live in high spirits and very little pain - like Frank did and the medical staff was in disbelief.
My type of cancer responds better to gentle treatments. Since March I am relatively happy with a first medication of the NHS Hormone Therapy. My hope - once being more settled with the overall treatment - is to be back focused in reconnecting with a normal life.

What a first week - I have also received a cheque and a can of delicious oil. Some feedback via email was very touching, and it was a pleasure contacting some people after many years. Healthwise: I can't help with some tricky days but this appeal has been boosting my confidence, energy and good sleep. Many thanks to everyone! Angela
