    Story

Os ydych yn ddisgybl neu cyn ddisgybl o Ysgol Syr John Rhys, Ponterwyd mae’n siwr eich bod wedi clywed am yr Ysgolhaig Syr John Rhys.

Ar hyn o bryd mae’r disgyblion wrthi yn dysgu am Syr John Rhys. Rydym wedi gosod her i gymuned yr ysgol i ddilyn ôl troed Syr John Rhys wrth gynnal taith cerdded noddiedig rhithiol. Byddwn yn cerdded o Bonterwyd i’r Coleg Normal ym Mangor ag yn ôl yn union fel wnaeth Syr John Rhys i dderbyn ei addysg. Ganwyd Syr John Rhys yn Aberceiro Fach ar y 21ain o Fehefin 1840 a derbyniodd addysg yn y pentref ac yna dderbyniodd ei addysg uwch yng Ngholeg Normal, Bangor. Yn 1865 fe ddaeth yn bennaeth yng Ngholeg yr Iesu, Rhydychen sydd bellach 125 mlynedd yn ôl.

Mae’r disgyblion yn awyddus i ddilyn ôl troed Syr John Rhys wrth gynnal y daith gerdded rithiol yma i Fangor ac yn ôl. Pellter y daith bydd 164 o filltiroedd.

Gwerthfawrogwn bob gyfrainad tuag at yr ysgol.

If you are a pupil or former pupil of Ysgol Syr John Rhys, Ponterwyd you must have heard of the Scholar Sir John Rhys.

The pupils are currently learning about Sir John Rhys. We have set a challenge for the school community to follow in the footsteps of Sir John Rhys in conducting a virtual sponsored walk. We will walk from Ponterwyd to the Normal College in Bangor and back just as Sir John Rhys did to receive his education. Sir John Rhys was born in Aberceiro Fach on the 21st June 1840 and was educated in the village and then received his higher education at Normal College, Bangor. In 1865 he became head of Jesus College, Oxford, 125 years ago.

The pupils are keen to follow in the footsteps of Sir John Rhys in conducting this virtual walk to Bangor and back. The distance of the walk is 164 miles.

We would appreciate your support and contributions towards the school
