Story
In October last year we found out that our lovely mum Angie has lung cancer - 23 years after battling and beating breast cancer. We now know that this is incurable, but can be treated to extend her life. She is receiving a drug called 'pembrozimab' an immunotherapy treatment which helps her own body fight the cancer – and quite frankly we think it is amazing!
Like so many others in her position she finds herself at the Leicester Royal Infirmary Chemotherapy suite being treated by the hard working staff who care for 100’s of patients from the midlands every day. Which compared to the last time she was treated there, 23 years ago, has significantly more people to treat from a far wider catchment area.
Being the frequent visitors that we are, we know that no visit ever gets easier but we do know that being comfortable makes a big difference, particularly to some patients whose treatment programme can mean them sitting in the Chemo Suite for 6 or 7 hours at a time. That’s why in addition to a big charity fundraising party on the 1st September we are asking for any donations that can help us to raise funds for new patient chairs in this most important of places.
Thank you to all who support us, it is so very appreciated!!
