Story
I was staying at the YHA with a group of friends over the weekend and having stayed there many times, I'd never stayed in the Anglesey Hut, so thought it would be a nice touch to our adventure weekend. On Sunday 9th Feb, Storm Ciara was unleashing her worst. At around 9:30am we had taking all of our belongings out of the hut and were making plans to head home, only to find out that both our routes were blocked by fallen trees, powerlines and a land slide. The wonderful staff at the YHA allowed us to stay until at least one of the roads was cleared. At 11:30am, the hut was destroyed by a falling tree. Luckily no one was in it as the time, or near it so no one was hurt. This hut is a poignant part of YHA history and has stood for over 100 years, so can not be left in ruin. Raising money to help restore and rebuild this hut is the least I can do to say thank you to Daimion and Saskia.
