Story

Our talented young striker, Angus Grant, suffered a serious knee injury during the Aberdeenshire Cup quarter-final against Formartine United on the 31st August 2021.

A MRI scan has confirmed the early suspicions that Angus has suffered a ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligament & a complete rupture of his Lateral Collateral Ligament.

As present, the post-COVID NHS waiting times are such that going down this route would mean upwards of 2 years before he would likely be able to get the necessary surgical treatment required. He would then need up to a year of rehabilitation. Angus works as a schools football coach which means without the injury being surgically repaired, he would be unable to continue working.

At Huntly Football Club, our players wellbeing and support are at the heart of who we are and we have decided that the right thing to do is refer Angus to a private specialist, with a view to having knee ligament reconstruction surgery.

Like all football clubs, we are struggling to cope with the financial impact of COVID therefore we are creating this page to provide our support to Angus and explore fundraising avenues that can allow Angus to have the surgery he requires to return to day to day normal life, with the aim of also returning to football.

Please can I ask that you can provide support to our efforts, in any way you can, and allow the opportunity to Angus to get the treatment he deserves.

Kind Regards,

Gordon Carter
