Story
I am joining my young cousin Zahra and her friends and family in her attempt to climb Mount Snowdon in an effort to raise awareness about Narcolepsy and to raise much needed funds for the charity 'Narcolepsy UK'.
Zahra was diagnosed with narcolepsy in 2013 and it has had a profound effect on her life. Narcolepsy is a life-long condition which affects the sufferer's sleep/wake cycle. It creates excessive daytime sleepiness and disturbed night time sleep. Alongside Narcolepsy is Cataplexy which causes sufferers to lose muscle control at times of heightened emotions. It has a profound effect on people's ability to take in, store and and recall information which makes schooling particularly difficult.
Zahra is a driven, hard working and determined young girl who ha had to deal with the symptoms of narcolepsy from a very young age. Zahra and her family have been supported by Narcolepsy UK since her diagnosis. It is a small charity which operates throughout the UK with just four part time members of staff. Climbing Mount Snowdon is our challenge to support them and raise awareness of the condition.
Any support will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all your support from Zahra and her team.
