We desperately need new animal shelters at Greenslate Farm
The past year has been hard for everyone, but here at Greenslate Farm we managed to keep the site open throughout, continuing to provide essential care provision to our most vulnerable learners through our Care Farm, educational partners such as schools and colleges and for visitors at weekends.
Our animals play a huge part of what we do. Most are rescued and they have a big role to play as part of our wildlife conservation strategy to promote pollination, insect diversity and chemical free regenerative agriculture. They are vital for the services we offer to our Care Farm learners and other farm users who greatly benefit from the therapeutic effects of animal handling and welfare. The children and other farm visitors love them and quite simply, they are part of our family.

We have worked tirelessly throughout the last year and the hard winter to keep all our furry and feathered residents safe and sound. With most of our income gone and volunteer opportunities restricted, we have had to prioritise the day to day animal care and the maintenance of our animal shelters has been put on hold.
Unfortunately, after the recent bad weather, a lot of our animal shelters are literally falling apart - even our dedicated volunteers can’t repair them so we are asking for your help to raise funds for materials and resources to ensure the animals have the safe and secure housing that they need.
Here are some examples – £600 will buy a full height shed and aviary to ensure our ducks are both vermin and fox proof, keeping them safe from attack whilst allowing groups with special educational needs to conduct regular cleaning and feeding routines. £300 will purchase a field shelter for our sheep, ensuring they have vital shade in the hot summers and shelter from the bitterly cold wind in the winter.
