Story
Over the years, Team Alex has taken on some incredible fundraising challenges — from Tough Mudders and long-distance wheelchair challenges to even jumping out of planes. It’s been absolutely nuts!
Now, it’s Mum’s turn 💪
After surviving bowel cancer and enduring many complications over the last eight years, Anita is finally fighting fit and ready to take on her own fundraising challenge for Alex. She’s spent the last couple of years training hard to get back on track and has set her sights on the Hyrox Event in Glasgow this March — no small feat!
Joining her on this epic challenge is Team Alex veteran Dan Rose, making this an even more special team effort.
Alex starts high school in 2027, and as you can imagine, “big school” is daunting enough without having to navigate it in a wheelchair. While Alex does have an all-terrain electric wheelchair, it’s bulky and not ideal for a busy school environment. Alex feels most comfortable — and most himself — in his manual wheelchair, which he sees as an extension of who he is.
Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase a power attachment for Alex’s manual chair. This will help him move independently around a much larger school, cope with tighter timetables, and conserve his energy throughout the day — all while staying in the chair he loves.
We’re still exploring the best option, but the attachments we’re considering cost between £5,000–£6,000.
Every donation, share, and word of support helps bring Alex one step closer to starting high school with confidence, independence, and freedom. Thank you for being part of Team Alex ❤️
