I've raised £800 to Marine and Turtle Conservation in Crete

This summer I will be travelling to Crete for four weeks to volunteer my time with the charity Archelon.
Archelon, was founded in 1983 and works to protect sea turtles and their habitats in Greece through monitoring and research, developing and implementing management plans, habitat restoration, raising public awareness and rehabilitating sick and injured turtles back to full health to be released again.
I will be sleeping on the beach in a tent and taking part in daily 14km beach walks to look for baby turtle tracks and to locate nests, marking hatching nests and dealing with any hatchlings that are still on the beach.
In the light of global warming and the habitat destruction that results, the work Archleon does is vital for the survival of a number of species of turtle.
To raise funds for the trip I will be completing an abseil down an 11-storey building in Leeds city centre on the 6th of April. Any donations big or small are greatly appreciated and please feel free to share this page.
