I've raised £1000 to complete the Manchester Half Marathon to give back for our Grandad's!

As some people know we have both lost our Grandfather's to two terrible diseases, which has encouraged us to go ahead and tackle the enormous task of a 13.1 mile run!
Anna's granded (little Ron) sadly passed away in September last year after a 10 year struggle with parkinson's. In the final months that this cruel disease took hold of him he was admitted to Longridge Community Hospital, one of the causes we are fund raising for. This small friendly hospital offered Ron and all the family such great care and support. They went above and beyond to ensure he was comfortable and showed great compassion in what they were doing. It is this kind of compassion and willingness to help, no matter how big or small a task may be, that leaves us forever grateful and in debt to this establishment and the wonderful staff that work there.
Sami's grandad Eddie unfortunately passed away on 20th March 2005, he suffered throughout his early 50's and was diagnosed with Alzheimers at the young age of just 55. As you can imagine that sort of diagnosis had a huge impact on Eddie and his family and they are eternally grateful for all the support they received. Alzheimers is a brutal disease which attacks the mind, there is currently no cure which is why research into various treatments is more vital than ever. Once you have lost a loved one to something like Alzheimers you forever hold a desire in your heart to help prevent others from going through the same, which is why we are fundraising for this important cause.
So now it's our turn to give back! On Sunday 14th October we are setting out to complete the Manchester Half Marathon. We are looking to raise as much money as possible to split equally between Alzheimers charities and Longridge Community Hospital to go towards further research, care and specialist equipment required to help more people like Ron & Eddie.
As you all know we both love a good party, so knuckling down to train for what's going to be the hardest thing we've ever done is definitely going to be a struggle! We hope to make you all proud and cross that finish line with our heads held high, any donations no matter how big or small will be so greatly appreciated.
Wish us luck!!
