Story
As some of you may know, my brother Joe is currently volunteering with CADUS in Gaza (see photo of Joe in action above). CADUS is a non-political emergency humanitarian response charity, which provides emergency medical treatment in conflict zones such as Gaza, Ukraine and Iraq (see website here), entirely non-politically, and to anyone in immediate need (on either side of a conflict).
You can see a Channel 4 interview with Joe here at 1.27, which is a harrowing video showing the vital work CADUS are doing to provide medical support to those caught up in the conflict. This work is absolutely vital to give those in need medical care in a war zone, and Joe is incredibly brave in putting himself in harm's way to do so.
In support of Joe and CADUS, I will be running The Northumbrian Half Ironman. The event is on 30 June and the distances are a 1.2 mile (2 kilometer) open water swim, followed by a 56 mile (90 kilometer) extremely hilly cycle, and topped off with a half marathon up a mountain.
I will add a final disclaimer that the probability of me being able to finish the race in the cut-off time is as yet not 100% certain. I do promise, however, that I will give it my bestest bestest shot.
