Story

During the next three weeks I will be carrying out some fundraising activities to raise money for Care4Calais. Care4Calais is a volunteer run charity delivering essential aid and support to refugees living in the worst conditions across Northern France and Belgium.

Week one: I will be camping outside in a single skin tent each night, despite the near freezing temperatures, in attempt to highlight the horrific living conditions that millions of refugees are forced to live in.

Week two: I will be eating the rations that over 79 million people live on (100g oats, 100g rice, 200g beans daily), in attempt to highlight the scarce rations that many refugees receive and the policies that have recently been put in place to leave even more refugees hungry and even starving.

Week three: I will be cycling 15km a day, however if weather conditions such as ice or a lack of daylight makes this unsafe, I will do an hour of intense exercise, such as the stepping machine, instead. I will be doing this to highlight the physical struggle that refugees struggle face on their journey to a safe place to live.

You can find out more about the essential work that care4calais have already, and continue to carry out at What We Do | Aid & Support for Refugees | Care4Calais
