Our beautiful daughter, Annabel, came into our lives in March 2012. Early on we knew as parents that something wasnt quite right with her development. As time moved on and we eventually discovered her diagnosis, we started on the journey of trying to help her overcome the many difficulties and obstacles life has presented her with.

In September 2017, Annabel started a 3-week intensive physiotherapy programme at Footsteps in Oxfordshire. The progress she has made in this 3-week period has been nothing short of amazing. When she started there, she could only manage about 20-30 seconds sitting, with her legs crossed and arms stretched out, hands on the floor supporting herself. By the end of the 3 weeks, she was managing several minutes, with only the occasional brush against her upper arms by the Physio.

The strength in her torso and neck is so important for her, as this in turn means she can support her head easier and therefore use her hands and arms more to aid her communication improve her overall quality of life.

What this has taught us and also from speaking to other parents there, is this needs to become a regular part of Annabel's life and this is why we have set up this page. We have met families whose children have been going to Footsteps for many years, which has seen many of them make astonishing leaps in their own development.
