Story

The Upside Down Club supports young people and children who are wheelchair users living in Cambridgeshire. Some children have additional needs such as learning difficulty, sensory impairment and communication difficulty.

The club offers a variety of sports to give these children opportunities to do activities that would otherwise never be available to them and to provide an opportunity to make and keep valuable new friends.

Some sessions are led by visiting professional coaches and all the sessions include activities which are adapted to ensure all children can take part.

I have been volunteering at this club for a few years now and would like to offer more than the hours I give at the sessions.

Unfortunately, 12 months ago I started suffering from ME/CFS which is a medical condition that has given me long term fatigue, frequent dizziness and sever muscle pain which has limited my ability to carry out everyday activities, school work and supporting this club which has been very upsetting to me.

Very recently I underwent some private treatment that has helped me with this condition that started my recovery and gave me the opportunity to do more physical activities. Just last term I managed a 5km run that would have been impossible months ago. I now want to use this recovery to not only help myself but to support this special club that has meant so much to me and the children in it that I adore helping.

I will be taking part in the Waterside 10km road race around Grafham Water on the 16th December to raise valuable funds to support this club for new equipment, fun days out and professional sports coaches.

Please help me achieve my goal to help this very special club.
