I've raised £200 to help the courageous and inspiring Martin Hibbert and his beautiful daughter Eve, who were caught up in the Manchester terror attacks.🐝❤️

On Sunday 27 August I will be walking 30 miles across 3 peaks in Lancashire to raise money for a school friend of mine and his daughter who were amongst those severely injured in the MEN attack back in May.
The cover photo was Martins last Facebook post, just before the concert. He commented: 'Quick pit stop before Miss Grande at the arena.' Both were very poorly, the little girl even more so and both have sustained life changing injuries. Martin and his beautiful daughter were 10 metres away from the bomb when it detonated. Martin in all suffered 22 shrapnel wounds, with the majority of the metal fragments (nails, nuts and bolts) entering his back and buttocks, 4 fragments hit his right foot braking his ankle and tibia.
One piece went straight through his left bicep leaving a golf ball sized hole from which he lost a lot of blood, another item (see x-ray pic) ended up in his stomach but this wasn’t through his back; a metal nut hit his neck severing his jugular vein completely and partially rupturing his cartoid artery. It then entered his throat before being swallowed. This meant he lost his entire blood volume at the scene and had to have over 16 pints transfused before he reached the intensive care unit.
He required a 5 hour operation to remove the shrapnel from his stomach resulting in a massive scar. These injuries and associated blood loss were obviously life threatening and the effect of the trauma continues with severe pain on the damaged nerves in his neck. The long term prognosis, if you look at the x-ray picture you can see a metal item embedded in his spinal cord, this did a lot of damage. He is paralysed from the belly button down, meaning he will be in a wheelchair from this day forward.
It is clear both will need long term financial support. Please give generously, so together we can help provide the support they're going to need. All donations I raise will be forwarded to the wider fund 'Friends of Martin Hibbert' Thanks so much xx
