Story
During the night of the 6th of December Mila awoke complaining of a sore leg. At the time her parents tried to settle her back down to sleep but soon realised some thing was wrong when she couldnt walk on her leg and her temperature was sky high. They contemplated making an emergency appointment at the medical centre but quickly decided that forth valley royal hospital, accident and emergency department is where they needed to be. Within 2 hours of being in the accident and emergency department they had spoken with several doctors from various departments within the hospital. Four hours after their arrival, they were in the children's ward where Mila was waiting to go to surgery. Seven hours after arrival , Mila had received successful, potentially life saving surgery. After speaking with the consultant after Milas surgery they realised how lucky they had been to have taken her into hospital so quickly after her symptoms began. Had they not it may have been a completly different story. It was then, on reflection her parents noticed her dislike to bright lights and her loss of appetite.
I just want to express how important it is to raise awareness of meningitis.
