Story

In 2015 my wife, Anne, was admitted to hospital and diagnosed with Guillen Barres Syndrome, which has left her almost completelty paralysed and dependent on 24 hour care for all her needs. In december 2017 Anne was discharged to our home for care, after nearly 27 months in hospital.

While in hospital, Anne recieved regular physio to help strengthen the muscles in her arms and legs, but this is something that can't be provided so easily now that she is home.

The nerves that died when GBS struck are slowly regrowing and daily physio will help speed this up. Although a full recovery is unlikely, a partial recovery would enable Anne to have more significant involvement in her son and daughters lives.

The two pieces of equipement that we need are a motormed and a standing frame. A motormed is similar to a cycle machine, where Anne's arms and legs are strapped in and her arms and legs move as if cycling , which will build up muscle tone and stamina. The standing frame will enable Anne to stand upright, which will help her strengthen her back muscles and aid her posture.

We will be grateful for donations of any size, and if we can achieve near this target it would be incredible. We will post regular updates on Annes progress and recovery.
