Story
My dad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer just over 2 years ago, to which he received Brachytherapy treatment that was thankfully successful, but at a cost....
In April this year, dad began to have complications in his bladder/prostate area to which he couldn't control his bowel movements, and became incontinent. This all came down to the Brachytherapy, in a very rare case, dad's tissue around the bladder and prostate became damaged and caused a hole which is why all the bladder issues began. Dad then had a procedure to put in a catheter, to which he had to keep in perminantly (until the issue gets solved, this long awaited for operation ), which again came at a cost....
Since Dad has had the catheter, its had to be replaced several times and under General anaesthetic because the procedure is complicated and the catheter needs to be correctly placed for it to work due to the hole damage. Because dad has a catheter, he has suffered countless urinary infections which causes dad to be in pain constantly, which is heartbreaking to see. One recent infection, which, not down to the urinary problem, but a nasty infection in the bone actually made dad bed ridden for days and ended in a hospital stay.
So dad has a date for his prostate removal and tissue damage repair operation for the 3rd December 2018,... because the operation has to go private (only 1 surgeon in the UK who can perform this operation privately) dad has to find around £6000, (operation cost) which will take place in London. The Insurers pay toward it, but not a lot. It's heartbreaking to try and find so much money for treatment that my dad desperately needs to get a good quality of life again. My dad, 61, has been literally housebound for weeks in worry that the catheter will leak, which has been known to be unreliable and prone to blockages which dad needs to go to hospital for it to be unblocked. It breaks my heart to see my dad so fragile. Please, if you can help, we would be eternally greatful xx

5 years ago....... Dad felt it would be good for donations to go to this charity as he has been through Prostate Cancer and the journey after, a charity close to all our hearts. A chap named Steve (who runs an annual Boxing Day car and bike event) heavily supports Prostate Cancer UK, raising thousands of pounds for the Charity and is hoping to reach a £5,000 goal... so after a talk with dad, we decided to forward all donations from Dads page to Steve's page to help him reach his target, as well as my own donation. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR DONATIONS. XX

5 years agoHello, I feel an update is in order, so here goes.... Dad had his operation in early December and with a scare and extra time in ICU, dad was released from hospital after a 9 day stay. The operation went very well, just now dad endures the long recovery. Now, I originally posted this page in hope of donations to help toward Dad's operation, but an earlier update expressed it has hall been paid for. So after talks with dad and permission from donors, we are giving the donations to "Prostate Cancer UK'............

6 years agoWe have just recieved fantastic news, my Dad has been informed that his Insurers will cover the FULL cost of this costly but necessary operation. My dad has asked that, if you would like your money back, to let me know and I will refund it to you and he asked that if you would would like to still donate, he requested that i forward your donation to the PROSTATE CANCER charity. So all donaters, please get back to me as to what you would like to do, if I don't hear back, then I will pass on your donations to the charity. THANK YOU ALL xx
