This is my mum and her twin sister. They have both had multiple sclerosis for nearly forty years. They are both widowed and live in the same nursing home. Along with other residents in the home they love going out on little trips to local places of interest. Unfortunately, these trips cost a lot of money as they need specialised transport for their wheelchairs. Sadly, some of the residents have no living relatives so the nursing home is their only family. There is no budget within the home to finance these outings so fundraising is the only way to cover the costs. This pot has to be used for all activities so the residents are supplementing the transport costs themselves.
Old people are often forgotten when it comes to fundraising but they enjoy sharing new experiences with their friends as much as the rest of us!
I am running the full Monty Cute 10 on December 4th. It is a ten and a half mile trail run with a hill in each mile so that makes ten hills!!! It will be my first trail run so will definitely be a challenge. But as I see it, some of these elderly people face a challenge every day just to keep going. So , if through a bit of effort and probably a lot of mud on my part I can do something to give them a little bit of pleasure it will be really worthwhile.
I do hope you will help me raise more funds to provide some bright spots in the year ahead for this appreciative group of old people. Thank you it will mean so much to them that people are thinking of them.
