So guys as some of you may or may not know in 1 weeks time I will be flying off to Cochabamba, Bolivia to start a 2 year project in Audiology. I will be working with some amazing people in a special needs school and with children who have a range of cognitive and physical disabilities. Our aim is to facilitate some of these children with everything they require to get out of the special needs school and into mainstream schooling. My role, obviously, will be to focus on the hearing and balance issues that could potentially be problematic to this integration. There are very limited, if any, access to Audiological facilities in this part of the world and unfortunately hearing difficulties are not looked at as an important issue, even though they definitely are!! I am also working as part of an outreach program with a team of other health care professionals which will hopefully bring these facilities to much poorer and more rural parts of Bolivia. I am really excited (and scared) to be starting this project as it is something I am very passionate about but also completely new and challenging. It is such a worthy cause and I hope you guys will help us achieve our goal by donating to the project. No amount is too small so if you are able to give anything it would be much appreciated.
