Story
My name is Annys Darkwa (Davies). I was born in Tonyrefail (in the Rhondda valley in south wales). In the old days I was shunted out through the care system 38 years ago.
I went to London at the age of 18 where I got involved in the criminal justice system, first as an offender, and then, as a result of my experience in prison, as the founder and, for ten years until last October 2017, the chief executive of a social enterprise, charity finding accommodation in the private rented sector for ex-offenders and other vulnerable people at risk of being homeless.
Now I am back in wales, wanting to give something back to my own community.
Besides being the founder and the chief executive of Vision Housing Consultancy Services LTD, I won various awards:
• Centre for Social Justice Award.
• Andy Ludlow (runners up twice )
• Business awards ( runners up )
• Redemption Award.
• One of the 100 most unseen powerful woman of the year award
• Innovative business woman of the year 2016.
I also confirmed the link between homelessness and re-offending and provide that finding accommodation for ex-offenders reduced re-offending. Without accommodation, 70% of ex-offenders re-offend, whereas with accommodation, only 11% re-offend. ( we have the results if you would like a copy )
