I spent 1,677 days as a hostage in Evin Prison.

Since my release in 2022, I’ve completed four London Marathons and raised thousands of pounds for charity.

This year, at 72-years-old, I’m running for a cause that is especially close to my heart.

I'm running to support cash-strapped dog shelters that care for thousands of animals with minimal resources and almost no outside help.

During my arbitrary detention, the thought of reuniting with our four rescue dogs was a major source of strength that kept me going.

Their resilience, love, and loyalty served as a constant reminder of qualities that we all need in our lives.

Running this marathon is my way of giving back and helping those who cannot speak for themselves.

Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to providing them with the care and safety they need; particularly at a time of war when these innocent creatures can easily be overlooked.
