Story
Hi and thanks for visiting my page. After 4 half marathons I've decided I should attempt the full thing and am running the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday 26th May 2019. I've decided that if I'm going to pound the streets of Edinburgh for 26 miles (and the hundreds of miles of training) then I should raise some money and do some good!
I first came across PTSD999 last year when their co-founder Simon Durrance spoke at the EEEGR Dinner. I was truly humbled listening to him and the work that they are doing with emergency service and military personnel.
My Nephew is an active Fire Fighter in New Foundland and has already had to deal with many challenging situations and my Father and Uncle were in the forces as well. I'm also part of the Petrofac Emergency Response Team and have frequent interaction with Coast Guard, Police etc. when carrying out exercises.
Please give what you can to this great cause. Here are some more details about PTSD999 ….
"PTSD999 is a registered social enterprise in guidance with the Charities Commission. The organisation was founded in 2015 by Simon Durance and Gary Hayes, both of whom have been diagnosed with PTS. Gary and Simon were determined that no one else within the Emergency Services would suffer and not seek help. The organisation is the only one that specifically treats emergency services. We predominantly consist of volunteers and the only people paid are the over 120 trauma focused therapists we use to treat those referred to us. So far we have treated over 200 emergency services personnel. We also provide advice, support and a place where people can just talk about their experiences which is often all they want. This is through our 24 hour text service and our office hours contact centre. But we are only just scratching the surface. With your help we could do so much more. Helping those that are there for us everyday . Take Your Life Back
