Story
Dear friends and colleagues.
I was back in Poland last week and wanted to report back to all those who supported our initial humanitarian aid relief run for the Ukrainian refugees in the country. I visited my wife’s home town of Gorzow Wielkopolski and also spent a couple of days in the capital Warsaw. I am full of admiration for the many Polish and Ukrainian people I met who have been working tirelessly to help the refugees in the country and to the many who have given sanctuary to them in their homes. However it is apparent that the initial waive of foreign support has now waned given the prolonged nature of the war and it is abundantly clear there is much more help needed. This is why we are asking for your support again to help make the following two projects happen.
Project 1) We visited a donation centres in Gorzow and Warsaw and they are now running low of basic necessities desperately needed. The centre in Gorzow has also been sending goods directly to an orphanage in Ukraine. We would love to restock the centre and the orphanage. Given we now have a logistics network on the ground in Poland our plan this time is to buy the goods locally and save on transport costs.
Project 2) Most of the Ukrainian children have been integrated into Polish schools but they will soon break for the summer. We want to give them a sense of normality over the long summer recess by funding a summer camp programme. They deserve to forge new friendships, learn basic life skills like swimming and to take part in some fun activities. We have worked with local authorities to organise a day camp programme at a leisure centre and our goal is to give >500 Ukrainian children the opportunity to attend the summer camp. The cost for a 1 week camp is ~$150 per child per week. The more we raise the more kids we can send to summer camps.
We appreciate there are many worthy causes but for those who do want to donate alongside us we are extremely grateful. Whilst we have tried to find a charity umbrella to collect funds, the kids break for school on June 24th so we have 10 days to raise the funds. Hence the quickest route to get the funds to work is a using a social platform for giving. Please use this link:
